Ali Akbar Moradi is a great master of the tanbûr. The sacred vocation of this major lute of Kurdistan fits to the mystical abilities of its performers. Tanbûr music is performed in solo or as an accompaniment to the singing with or without drums. This CD gathers several mystical chants of the Ahl-e-haqq (or Yarsan) tradition, the "followers of the holy Truth", an esoteric sect which placed the tanbûr in the centre of its rituals. In these recordings, the listener will also hear some instrumental pieces of the Kurdish secular tradition.
